We have a Certificate of Insurance (COI)

A certificate of insurance is a document that shows that the movers you hired are insured. It shows that they have Commercial General Liability that covers damages to property and etc.

There is worker’s compensation. If they get injured, they can’t sue you and can make a claim for worker’s compensation.

There’s Commercial Auto Insurance. If there’s an accident on the road or because of the mover’s vehicle, there’s insurance on that end as well.

There’s also cargo insurance which covers damages during transport.

Finally you are also to purchase additional insurance. If you have an item you want to insure, you can pay to make sure that item doesn’t get damaged.

These are the main things to know and keep in mind when a building asks you to present a COI.

Get a moving company that can generate a COI so that if something goes wrong, you’ll be ok!
